Andrew Thompson Obituary, Death – Andrew Thompson has sadly and unexpectedly passed away. On December 16th, Andy was brought into this world in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It was in the year 1952 when he moved his family to Phoenix, Arizona. The 16th of December is Andy’s birthday. He graduated from Phoenix North High School in 1956 and the University of Arizona with a bachelor’s degree in history in 1960 (Go Wildcats!). In 1956, he obtained his graduation from Phoenix North High School.
Andy is survived by his wife of 61 years, Linda Melczer Thompson, his children Beverly (Edward) Reading and Kathy (Mark) Dombrowski, his grandchildren Brooke (Evan) Dahn, Drew (Ilyssa) Reading, Ryan Reading, Michelle Reading, Cole Dombrowski, and Brynn Dombrowski, and his precious great grandchildren Kate, Oliver, and Dallas. Andy was married to Linda Melczer Thompson for 61 years. Linda Melczer Thompson is also survived by Andy Andy Melczer Thompson and Linda Melczer Thompson were married for a total of 61 years.
Andy Melczer Thompson is also one of them who have survived Linda Melczer Thompson. His sister, Claudelle Frances Bailey L’Ecuyer, as well as his parents, Andrew Claude Thompson and Frances Eleanor Sexton Thompson, all went away before he did. His parents are buried at the family cemetery. Everyone who knew Andy adored him because of his genuine laugh and friendly smile, which earned him the nicknames “Bopa,” “Handy Andy,” and “Dad.” Andy was also known as “Bopa.” It didn’t take much more than a roll of duct tape, some shoe oil, and some good old-fashioned creativity on his part for him to fix anything.
His background in South Dakota established in him a sense of modesty and self-reliance, while his seven decades spent in Arizona ignited his passion for the great outdoors. His life began in South Dakota and ended in Arizona. He delighted in pursuits such as fishing, hunting, sailing, and playing golf, but the time he got to spend with the people he cared about most was what made him the happiest. Everyone will never forget him sitting there with a sophisticated “Reyn Spooner,” a glass of wine in his hand, and a fantastic story in his mouth as he recounted it. He will always be remembered.
