Bill Roy Obituary, Bill Roy has passed away unexpectedly

 Bill Roy Obituary, Death – WVU Hospice was providing care for Bill Roy until the day he passed away on Wednesday at his home. He was the son of Homer William Roy and Mabel Helen (McNeill) Roy, both of whom passed away before his birth on June 24, 1946 in Laureldale, West Virginia. He was also predeceased by his wife, Marian (Fisher) Roy; a stepson, Johnny Ray Tillman; two brothers, Dennis and Frederick Roy; two newborn sisters; and another sister, Barbara Smith. His parents also came before him in death. Mr. Roy served as a police officer for the Keyser Police Department for a total of 31 years, eventually reaching the position of chief before retiring. In addition to that, he had served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Both the Grace Reformed Church in Oakland, Maryland and the Mineral Baptist Church in Keyser were churches that Bill frequented. He was a member of the Railroad Unit Club in Cumberland, Maryland, the Potomac Shrine Club in Keyser, West Virginia, the Osiris Shrine Temple in Wheeling, West Virginia, Clinton Lodge # 86 of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons in Romney, West Virginia, and the Hillbilly Clan in Wheeling. In addition, he was a life member of the Boyce-Houser Post # 41 of the American Legion in Keyser, the Raymond E. Dawson Lodge # 111 of the Fraternal Order of Police in Keyser, and the Nancy Hanks Post # 3518 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Keyser.

His daughters Helen Dale Smith and husband Rick of McConnellsburg, PA and H. Dawn Fuller and husband Brent of Keyser are among those who are left behind. He also leaves behind two stepsons, Darrell L. Tillman of Westernport, MD and Damon J. Tillman of Keyser; four grandchildren, Les Mallow and wife Madison, Helen Mae, Tressie Raye and Harrison Craig; two brothers, Wade A. “Buster” Roy and wife Anna and Thomas L. Roy and wife Michel A sister-in-law, Margie Roy of Keyser, a brother-in-law, Ben Smith of Farmington, West Virginia, personal friends Ernest and Beth Lease of Keyser, and a large number of nieces and nephews are also among those who have been left behind.

Potomac Memorial Gardens will be used for the interment, and at the gravesite, the West Virginia Honor Guard will perform military honors for the deceased.
