Chris Clark Obituary, Death – Chris Johnson Clark, 59, of Decatur, Mississippi, died at Laird Hospital in Union, Mississippi, on Thursday, November 24, 2022. He was born on July 27, 1963, in Kosciusko, Mississippi. On November 27, 2022, the funeral will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Clarke Venable Baptist Church in Decatur, MS. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Newton County Funeral Home North (9998 Hwy 15 North, Newton, MS). Rev. Mark Vincent and Rev. Kelvin Boone will officiate. Newton County Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Chris graduated from Decatur High School in 1981 as a talented athlete, fierce competitor, and one of the most pleasant students. He played basketball and baseball in high school and golf, baseball, and tennis at East Central Community College. He is in the International Golf Hall of Fame. Chris graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1985 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Chris previously worked for La-Z-Boy and East Central Community College, where he was in charge of business and company training opportunities as well as coaching the EC Warrior Golf team.
Chris loved spending time with his family and friends, as well as getting involved in the lives of the students at Clarke Venable Baptist Church, of which he was a member. Clark was a deacon who regularly accompanied students to Centrifuge, Mission Fuge, and Disciple Now events. Chris also taught a third and fourth grade boys Sunday School class at CVBC.
Chris Clark was predeceased by his father, Joe Clark, as well as his grandparents, Alton and Mattie Lee Johnson and Marzene and Odessa Clark. His mother, Carolyn Clark, and wife, Sandy Hemmingway Clark, both survive, as do their son, Luke Clark; daughter, Olivia Clark; brothers, Kevin Clark and Stan Clark (Melba); nephews, Thomas and Andrew Clark; nieces, Riley Kate and Dru Sheppard; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shannon and Johnny Sheppard; father-in-law, Wayne Hemmingway (Marie); mother-in-law, Sue Hemmingway; father-
