Daniel Holt, USAF, died June 14, 2022. Uncle Dan never discussed his job or his time in the military in a formal manner. He made an effort to be cordial with everyone. Fans of the University of Louisville Cardinals or the Auburn Tigers were considered “Not friends” His legacy is to live each day to the fullest, no matter what. Danny earned his diplomas from North Hardin High School and Louisville High School. Danny, a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force, retired in the year 2010. He was awarded a Bronze Star for his outstanding behavior in the Middle East, which included never firing his gun.

After receiving a doctorate in management from Auburn, he worked as an instructor at AFIT in Dayton, Ohio. After he retired from the Air Force, he went on to teach at his alma mater, the University of Louisville, as well as at Mississippi State and LSU. His research on topics including organizational change, family businesses, and entrepreneurship resulted in the publication of over 7,100 citations across 100 journal articles, book chapters, and presentations.
Panhandling, driving a bulldozer, drawing maps, and tending bar were just a few of Danny’s jobs. It was fun for him to compete. Discussions about the rules and appropriate behavior during games frequently lasted longer than the games themselves. He put up a valiant fight.

The deaths of Danny’s parents came first. Kelly, his sisters Alexia (Bryan) Sheroan, Margaret (Mac) Duncan, and Kim (Brian) Bennett, as well as eight of his nephews, including Austin Duncan, Evan (Jocelyn) Duncan, Bates Bennett, Hayden Sheroan, Brody Bennett, Bennett Sheroan, Briggs Bennett, and Jacob Ryan (always in pajamas) Sheroan, are among those who will carry on his legacy after his passing.
Danny liked jokes. “my life doesn’t suck” provides us with the peace of mind that he lived his life to the fullest.
