David Beesmer Obituary, Death – The victim was identified by Lt. Patrick Buono as David Beesmer, 77. Five people were hurt and the house was destroyed by a three-alarm fire. a 43-year-old unidentified woman was treated for burns at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. According to Chief Chris Rea, neighbors who saw flames coming from the building alerted Kingston firefighters at 4:09 a.m. on Saturday. Firefighters arrived two minutes later to find a fire on the first floor spreading to the second. One person remained inside while the other four were outside.
Rea claims that two victims on the first floor left through the back door and that two victims on the second floor gave a child to a neighbor. An adult dropped, suspended, and released their hands as they walked out the window. He claimed that when a husband and wife banged on the door, the residents were informed and fled. Firefighters were told by evacuees that someone else was in a room with an air conditioner, according to Rea. Firefighters discovered nobody inside the burning structure when they entered it.
Firefighters were unable to enter the hall because the fire destroyed a hose line, according to Rea. Firefighters discovered Beesmer in the front bedroom and used a ground ladder to remove him through a window. Rea claims that the paramedics began CPR on Beesmer right away. The fire chief claims that Beesmer passed away at the Broadway Campus of HealthAlliance. By Saturday noon, Rea predicted that four more fire victims would be discharged from the hospital.
Rea claimed that efforts to extinguish the fire were hampered by the “balloon frame” construction of the house and its plaster and lath walls. According to Rea, 35 firefighters contained the blaze by 6:42 a.m. and extinguished it by 7:53 a.m. Five people received assistance from the American Red Cross’ Hudson Valley Chapter. According to a press release, three adults and two toddlers/children received assistance. It was the first fatal fire in the city in more than a year, according to Rea. Two days after being rescued from a fire at Brigham Senior Housing on O’Neil Street, a 71-year-old man passed away on November 23, 2021.
