David Dowdy Obituary, Death – After a valiant struggle against cancer, David L. Dowdy passed away to be with the Lord. David’s parents, the late James C. Dowdy and Geneva Seritt Dowdy welcomed him into the world on April 16, 1962, in Atlanta, Georgia. He is survived by his daughter, Tanya, and her husband, Jason Pittman; his sons, Brandon Dowdy, Austin Dowdy, and Dylan Dowdy; his daughter-in-law, Cheryl Dowdy; his brother, Kenneth Dowdy; his brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Laura Dowdy; his nephews Jason Dowdy and James Dowdy; his niece, Jessica Dowdy; and his granddaughters, Katelyn Hester, Ansley White, In addition, he is survived by a large number of friends who were like family to him. Donations to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) should be made in lieu of flowers, as the family has asked that they be made in his honor. These donations will go toward funding research to find a cure for cancer.

David, I only knew you a short time but I am grateful for the time I knew you. You were such an inspiration to everyone that heard your story. I will miss your daily “Good Morning” posts that I enjoyed so much. You always had a smile on your face. We know you are in a better place now and that you are watching over everyone that knew you.

Ohhh, sweet David….I miss you and your inspirational messages. You and Dylan and your daughter touched my heart. I know her pain…..I miss my Dad daily. You sir are pain-free in the arms of Jesus. I look forward to hugging you in heaven. Tanya…your daddy fought harder than any patient this nurse has ever known. He loved his family so much. My heart goes out to Dylan, you, and all your family. May Jesus wrap his arms around each of you and replace your pain with loving memories and peace. I’m so sorry for your immense loss…please take comfort knowing Jesus has a purpose and David is healed now…finally. Huge hugs. You all are in my prayers.

You have earned your wings & your soul is free to fly beyond this earthly home. Although I am going to miss you, always poking me on FB, or sharing an inspirational post, or our many late night chats …I can smile through my tears knowing you are in Heaven & awaiting all of us to join you one day.
