David Niley Obituary, Death -On November 24, 2022, David E. Niley, 85, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Everheart Hospice Care Center. Dorothy Niley and John Niley Jr. (Warvel) He was born on April 4, 1937, to Niley. On February 11, 2016, Dave’s wife Karen (Gangwer) Niley also passed away. Laura (Tony Causey) Davis of Bradford, Ohio, Terri (Joe) Andrews of Whigham, Georgia, and Deborah (Steve) Emerick of Dadeville, Alabama; 11 grandchildren; April David Yagle (Tiffany Gore), Joseph Stutzman (Rachael), and Joshua Andrews (April) Stephens, Justin (Emily) Jarred Andrews (fiance, Madison McCann) Stephens, Tom (Rebecca Aldridge)
Dave is a Greenville High School alum. After working for a while at a community college in Dayton, Dave opened Niley’s Service after moving back to Greenville. Dave was a skilled mechanic and operator of towing and recovery services. Dave was involved in his neighborhood. Over the course of more than 60 years, he served as a member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, the Valley of Dayton, the Antioch Shrine of Dayton, and the Darke County Shrine Club. Dave organized monthly breakfast meetings for the Darke County Democratic Party, where he was an active member. Additionally, he spent more than 20 years on the Greenville Transit Board, Greenville Zoning Board, and Darke County Board of Elections.
For 22 years, Dave served as the Darke County Agricultural Society’s chair of numerous committees. For 22 years, Dave presided over the annual fair demolition derby. In 2023, Dave will be enshrined in the Darke County Fair Hall of Fame. Dave helped organize car shows while serving as the Rolling 50’s Car Club’s president. He attended St. Paul United Church of Christ in Greenville with his wife Karen. Dave’s character, smirk, and orneriness will live on forever. Nobody was Dave’s stranger, and he was everyone’s friend.
The Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, will honor Dave’s life on December 3, 2022, at 11:00 AM. The funeral home will be open on Friday, December 2, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, which will be followed by a Masonic Memorial Service, and on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A private funeral will be held at Greenville Township Memorial Gardens. You can donate to the Rolling 50’s Car Club or the Darke County Shrine Club.
