Elizabeth keys Obituary, Death – On November 17, 2022, Elizabeth Marshall Keys passed away while sleeping. John and Laura Watson Keys welcomed her into the world on December 17, 1975. She was named after her grandma Elizabeth and it was her grandmother Virginia’s birthday. She attended Druid Hills High School and the College of William and Mary after growing up in Atlanta as the oldest of three children. She married Dennis Dauphin in October 2020, making him her stepfather’s stepchildren. In Crofton, Maryland, she created a house for them, her elderly cat, two kittens, and Bess the Newfoundland, and she relished in her new tasks.
Elizabeth was known as “Bizzy” when she was little because she was always active. She had a great heart and maintained relationships with a staggering number of close and distant family members, coworkers, acquaintances, godparents, and godchildren. She was incredibly intelligent and lovely, and among those who knew her well, one of the jokes is that she knew someone for any job, even monogrammers! She was also incredibly organized. She made use of her aptitude for planning, creating relationships, and networking in her career as well as personal life. She brought her breadth of knowledge and years of contacts to her position at Capstone as Director of Outreach and Events after working at FBR and Fannie Mae.
The Junior League of Washington also benefited, as they held a special place in her heart. She had been a Junior League member for 23 years, first in Atlanta and subsequently in Washington, D.C. She had held a number of executive positions, including president of both the JLW and the Large Leagues. She had numerous lifelong friends thanks to her affiliation with the Junior League, which she continued to be a part of up until the time of her death. Elizabeth enjoyed traveling and listed climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and Machu Picchu as two of her favorite achievements. Her most recent excursions were to Toronto and Niagara Falls with Dennis, Alexandra, and Will, as well as to Atlanta to celebrate her mother’s birthday and attend a Georgia Tech football game with her father and sister.
She lived by the tenet that while you can’t always control what happens, you can always choose how you respond to your situation. She chose to be loving and upbeat. She is going to be terribly missed. Her spouse Dennis Dauphin, her stepchildren Alexandra, Gabrielle, and William Dauphin, all of Crofton, Maryland; her parents, John and Laura Keys; her sister, Sarah Keys; her godparents, Carol Watson Harrison of Roswell; Marshall Keys of Belton, South Carolina; and Edith Guyton of Atlanta; as well as aunts, uncles, and very close cousins; are also left to cherish her memory. Her brother Harrison Keys, her grandparents Rufus and Elizabeth Keys and Frank and Virginia Watson, her uncle Hendree Harrison, and her cousin Laura Harrison Sinyard all predeceased her.
The Falls Church Episcopal in Falls Church, Virginia will hold services on Tuesday, November 29 at 11 a.m. Her ashes will be interred at the Church of the Epiphany on Wednesday, December 2, also at 11 a.m.
