Erberto Lo Bue Obituary, Ladakh Studies friend and colleague Erberto has passed away

Erberto Lo Bue Obituary, Death – The passing of our close friend and professional collaborator in the field of Ladakh Studies, Erberto Lo Bue, took place yesterday. I am sorry to be the one who has to break the disappointing news to you, but I’m afraid that this is the way things actually are. The current condition of his health has been a source of concern throughout the course of the past few years; nevertheless, it would appear that things have taken a considerable turn for the worse in the span of just the past month alone.

Erberto had recently graduated from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London, where he had focused his dissertation research on the history of Tibetan art. His attendance at our IALS conferences in Leh (2003), Kargil (2005), and Rome, as well as the contributions that he made while he was there, proved to be of considerable use to us (2007). The picture gives the impression that he is in Rome, where he is taking part in a meeting with Elena De Rossi Filibeck, who is assisting in the organizing of the conference.

It would appear that he is meeting with her right now. I worked very closely with him to edit the art history papers that were delivered in Rome, and the book that we produced as a direct result of our combined efforts is titled Art and Architecture in Ladakh (Brill, 2014).

Not only will people remember Erberto for his attentiveness, but also for his enthusiasm regarding all of the components of the subject matter he was studying. In particular, he will be remembered for his careful use of the English language, in addition to, without a doubt, the Italian language, and the Tibetan language as well. In addition, he was fluent in all three languages. He was fluent in all three languages to an extremely high level.
