After a protracted bout with illness, she passed away from ataxia-MSAC. At Ahlgrim’s Funeral Home, which is located at 567 Spring Road in Elmhurst, Illinois, a memorial service was held. Gail Miller was conceived on June 11th, 1955 and delivered in Greenville, Mississippi to parents Hoit and Dorothy Miller. Her father served in the United States Air Force and later became a pilot for TWA, where he worked until his retirement. Her mother received her degree in business from the University of Michigan but chose to remain at home as she brought up her three children:

Katherine Cary, Gail Elizabeth, and Weston Hoit. When Gail was five years old, her family made the move to Michigan City (Duneland Beach), Indiana. Gail cherished her life in the idyllic resort community that had been established by her grandfather. On August 12th, 1977, Gail wed John Walter Blubaugh, Jr., the man who would become the love of her life, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Michigan City, Indiana. They were bestowed with four magnificent children: Laura Elizabeth, Scott Ford, Julie Katherine, and John Matthew. These children were a blessing to their parents. She began her academic career at Purdue University, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business in 1977.

She later continued her education at National Louis University, where she earned a master’s degree in arts education in 1999. She began her career in the accounting department of Japan Line USA, where she later moved up through the ranks to become a control buyer, assistant buyer, and associate buyer. After that, she worked for Spiegel Catalog as a buyer in the intimate apparel and hosiery department before deciding to stay at home and raise her four children. They relocated to Elmhurst, and she immediately joined the Elmhurst Newcomers and Neighbors Club. After three years, she held the positions of Community Relations Chairperson, Treasurer, and Hospitality Chairperson for the club’s board of directors.

In addition to that, she presided over the Hawthorne School Playground Committee as its chair. Gail worked as a second and third grade teacher at Hawthorne Elementary School in Elmhurst from the time she returned to school in the 1990s until she retired in 2015, at which point she moved to Wisconsin before ultimately relocating to Florida. Gail believed that she led a good life, which she attributed to the numerous friends, family members, and other people who cared about her. Her passions included her family, the sport of skiing, taking photographs, reading, doing crafts, traveling, and spending time with her friends and students.

Gail is survived by her husband of 45 years, John, of Punta Gorda, Florida; her children, their spouses, and their children; her daughter Julie, her husband Zac Connelly, and their daughter Freddie; all of Illinois; and her son John and his wife, Lauren, of Illinois. She is also survived by her sister Katherine (Kit), who resides in Illinois, as well as Kit’s children, Lisa and Krista; her brother Weston (Wes), who resides in Indiana with his wife Kelly and their children, Nicole, Katherine, and Natalie; and Kit’s children, Lisa and Krista. She is also survived by her beloved cat, Sox, as well as her many friends.

Gail’s father, Hoit Miller, her mother Dorothy B. Miller, her mother-in-law Irene Blubaugh, her father-in-law John W. Blubaugh Sr., her daughter-in-law Anita Kentnesse, and her brothers-in-law Christopher Blubaugh, William Friddle, and Ben Marchlewicz all passed away before her. Dorothy B. Miller was Gail’s mother, and Hoit Miller was her father.
