Geneva Finigan Obituary, Stillwater, NY, Geneva Finigan Has Died

Geneva Finigan Obituary, Death – Geneva Folmsbee Finigan, 64, died peacefully on November 21, 2022, in her beautiful home, surrounded by her loving family, after a recurring battle with breast cancer. She was born in Schaghticoke on October 26, 1958, to the late Everett “Sonny” and Joan Wixted Folmsbee. Geneva was many people’s mother, sister, and friend. She was incredibly strong, passionate, and caring. Her heart, positive energy, never-ending kindness, and selfless care for others defined her spirit. Everyone around her was inspired by her love, light, and laughter.

Her career reflected her outlook on life—she always tried to give as much as she received. Geneva recently expressed her appreciation for working for the Ross Chevrolet family, where she received much more than a job, such as care and long-lasting friendships. Geneva dedicated her life to helping others. She helped out at Stillwater Meals on Wheels and gave rides and supportive care to cancer patients in need. For many years, she enriched the lives of young people by assisting them in reaching their full potential at BOCES and lifting those in need through her work at Captain Community Human Services.  Her bravery and strength were also evident in her Eldercare work. She genuinely enjoyed assisting others and simply being around other people.

She was also a member of the Stillwater beautification committee while living there. Geneva felt most at ease when she could soak up the sun with friends and family, whether at the lake, on a boat, or on a beach. Her children’s father and former husband, Robert Finigan Sr., her beloved canine companion, Golden Retriever “Finn,” siblings Susan (Keith) Kussius, Bonnie (Dave) McClements, Beth (John) Sheehan, sisters-in-law Bianca Folmsbee and Cindy Attanasio, and all of her loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends all survive. She was predeceased by her brothers Scott and Everett “Butch” Folmsbee, in addition to her parents.

Geneva was every bit as distinct as her name implied. Her family would like to thank all of her family and friends in Stillwater and Glens Falls for their love and support during her most difficult times. We will always remember you in our hearts. A Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion Post 490, 1 American Legion Rd, Stillwater, NY 12170, on Saturday, November 26 from 1pm to 5pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Geneva F. Finigan may be made to the Look Good Feel Better Foundation via their website, under “Team Geneva.”
