Geraldine Cain Obituary, Death – Geraldine F. Cain was at the Braxton Healthcare Center in Flatwoods, West Virginia, on the day she passed away on November 24, 2022. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing. She passed away at the age of 95. Gerd, She was the oldest of four children born to Francis Harris on December 6, 1926. Her more common name was “as she was more commonly known.” Richwood, West Virginia was the place of her birth. She was a devout Christian and loved her family in a way that could not be matched by anyone else. Neither of these qualities was easily matched.
Gerd considered herself one of the lucky people in the world because she had not just one, but two loves by the end of her life.
She began her life with a marriage to Darrell “Pete” Hammond, to whom she remained married until his death. After that, she tied the knot with William “Gail” Cain, and the couple remained wed until both of their deaths. Gerd is survived by her children Jeff (Patti) Hammond, Kim Fleming, Kevin Cain, and Kelly Cain, her grandchildren Meredith, Neil, Patrick, and Lindsey, and her great-grandchildren Michael, Heather, Mia, Harper, and Bodie, as well as two special nieces, Beth Bailey and Cathie Fields. Additionally, Gerd is survived by her great-grandchildren Michael, Heather, Mia, Harper, and Bodie.
Her mother, Francis Harris, her spouses Pete Hammond and Gail Cain, her son Darrell “Mutt” Hammond, and her siblings Alfred “Bub” Faulkner, Jean Frame, and Rosa Hamrick all passed away before she did. Richwood, West Virginia’s Simons-Coleman Funeral Home will be the location of the memorial service and celebration of life.
The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm on Monday, November 28, 2022, but the family will be present to greet friends and guests beginning at noon and continuing until 2:00 pm on that day. The burial will take place at the Fairview Cemetery in Nettie, West Virginia, immediately following the service that is being held there.
