Gordon Ellsey Obituary, Albrighton Cricket Club Mourns Gordon Ellsey Death

Gordon Ellsey Obituary, Death -The sad and unfortunate news that “Gordon Ellsey,” one of our club’s most illustrious members, had passed away has left us feeling upset and sorry. Gordon, who had been battling illness for a relatively short time, passed away earlier this week. In his playing days, Gordon was a quality opening bat who also bowled a bit and had a safe pair of hands in the grabbers, which is where he took his last catch when he was in his seventies. In addition, Gordon had a bit of an all-around game, as he also had a good pair of hands in the field.

Over the course of more than half a century, Gordon had been a part of the Albrighton Cricket Club.
Gordon was a cherished figure in the community of the club, and he had an uncanny ability to move to the front of the line whenever tea was being served. Gordon was our most devoted fan and did not miss a single one of our contests, regardless of whether they were played at home or away. In the event that you did not pick up Gordon when he was waiting for you, you could anticipate receiving a phone call from him.

Gordon cherished his time spent away from home and will be eternally grateful to the clubs in and around Shropshire that made him feel at home and took care of him while he was on their grounds in his later years. These clubs gave him a warm welcome and looked after him while he was there. Everyone in the world of cricket, where he loved to talk about the Yorkshire or Albrighton Cricket Club with wonderful memories, will undoubtedly miss Gordon when he passes away.

In particular, he had a special place in his heart for both clubs. A gentleman who is well-versed in the art of playing the game. During this trying time, everyone at the Albrighton Cricket Club is keeping his family and all of his close friends in their thoughts and prayers.
RIP Gordy.
