Greg Gano Obituary, Death – Sad to read that longstanding famous coach Greg Gano has died away. Greg was a great supporter of FCFOA. This picture is from our 2019 Banquet where Greg was a keynote speaker. Heaven has got on board a coaching great. Greg Gano, who is dearly loved by all of us, gained his wings. A genuinely wonderful coach, Coach Gano possessed the skills to train players on how to play the game, the empathy to act as an excellent mentor, and the determination to steer his side to victory. He carried himself with respect both on and off the field.
Have a great nap, Mr. Coach! You have made such an influence on so many individuals.

You will be sadly missed, but your legacy will survive for centuries to come. So sad to hear the news of Greg Gano’s demise. Greg Gano was a lot of thing a lot of people. He was our freshman football coach at Los Altos. His first head football coaching position. We were really happy to have him guide us. It was the beginning of a great career as a football coach as he moved on to the varsity level. He won four CIF titles at Los Altos following renowned coach Dwayne DeSpain and maintaining the tradition.

I don’t know his whole resume but he also coached young men at Don Lugo, Foothill High School, and Damien. He mentored so many of us who are now older. He was a kind and great man in addition to being a superb coach. I appreciated the many talks we had over the years. I’ll always recall telling us to get on one knee and share with us his advice. RIP Coach.  I’ll share what I shared when my dad died three years ago this month. “Some of you say, ‘Joy is greater than sadness,’ and others reply, ‘Nay, grief is the greater.’ But I say unto you, they are inseparable. Together they come, and while one sits alone with you at your board, remember that the other is asleep upon your bed.”
