She received her secondary education at Central College in McPherson, which during that time period served both as a high school and a college in one convenient location for its students. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Kansas.

She was able to graduate from high school after relocating to Kipp, Kansas, and enrolling at Kipp High School, which is located in the city of Kipp and is in close proximity to Salina. She was a graduate along with her classmates in the year 1962. Janna received her undergraduate degree from Brown-Mackie Business College, which was located in the heart of Salina, Kansas. Thereafter, in the year 1962, she graduated from the Nancy Taylor School of Modeling, which was located in New York City. Janna was successful in obtaining her diploma.
