Jason Potter Obituary, Death – On November 20, 2022, Jason Michael Potter, 44, unexpectedly passed away at his Lehi home from an undisclosed illness. On June 6, 1978, Terri Butterfield Potter and James Michael Potter welcomed Jason into the world in Provo, Utah. He entered this world with a passion and contagious energy that everyone could feel. All sports, including basketball, baseball, and soccer, were played throughout his childhood. His main passion was football. He was naturally talented in sports. He participated in sports at Murray High School and later Snow College.

He made the decision to try out for the University of Utah after his sophomore year. He was a walk-on who spent his first season on special teams. He earned a full scholarship and became the starting safety through dedication and hard work. His award as “Most Inspirational Player of the Year,” which he carried with him throughout his life, was his proudest achievement. Jason had a strong sense of loyalty to and love for his family members.

To him, his daughters were everything. He took every opportunity to spend time with them and make lasting memories. He enjoyed working for Azova Health the most. His stewardship was benefiting numerous individuals all over the world. Filipinos were his favorite nationality. He was deeply moved by their positive attitude and spirit of inspiration. That was ingrained in everything he did. The phrase “We are spiritual beings having a human experience” was one of his favorites.

He had a deep love for music and frequently sent songs to those he cared about to uplift and inspire them. Coaches, mentors, friends, family, and counselors all served as sources of inspiration for Jason. Each one gave him energy. During family gatherings, when he would charm his nieces and nephews with his interactions, his innocent spirit really came out. He was passionate about all things football and supported the Washington Redskins all the way to the end. Coaching the football teams of his friends and nephews gave him joy and a sense of accomplishment.

He will be sorely missed for his contagious laugh, sense of humor, wit, charm, good looks, and endless compliments. He is survived by his sisters Jaimee Potter and Kristi Fry (Ryan), as well as his children Skyla (16), Savvy (11), and Keegan (6), mother Terri Buck, stepfather Don Buck, grandparents Jerry and Charlene Whitehead, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and ex-partners. Father James Michael Potter and aunt Debby Mackay predeceased her.
