Jeffrey McCann Obituary, Death – Jeffrey E. McCann, a Hamilton resident, died on November 20, 2022, at the age of eighty, at Cameron Hospital in Angola. His parents, Raymond D. and Marvel M. (Smith) McCann, welcomed him into the world on September 15, 1942, in Auburn. After graduating from Butler High School in Butler, Indiana, he went on to Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. He then went on to earn a Master of Science in Mathematics from the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Jeff married Marsha A. Oberlin in Auburn on August 19, 1972, and she still lives in Hamilton. The couple tied the knot. Jeff began his aerospace career at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory five years ago. He was in charge of the Mariner Probe’s flight controls at the time. He then returned to Indiana, where he worked for a year as a math and physics teacher at Northern Wells Community School before moving on to Hamilton Community Schools, where he remained until his retirement after 29 years of service.

Jeff and Marsha were overjoyed to see their four old English sheepdogs. Jeff was an avid runner who took part in the Boston Marathon in 1986. He was the Olympic torchbearer in 1996, when the games were held in Gary, Indiana.
One of the people he leaves behind is Marsha McCann, his wife of 50 years. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Linda S. and James Singer of Waynesville, North Carolina; his brother and sister-in-law, Larry D. and Nora McCann of Butler; and seven nieces and nephews, Renee and Randy Russell, Amy and Bruce Prosser, Shane Oberlin, Jamie and Jennifer McCann, Minde Raney, Kristie Bruce Prosser will preside over the services on November 29, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the The funeral home is located at 1860 Center St., and the burial services will take place at Auburn’s Woodlawn Cemetery.
