Jerry Hagewood Obituary, Death – At the age of seventy, Jerry Leslie Hagewood, who resided in Winchester, Virginia, passed away at the Vanderbilt Bedford County Hospital on November 23, 2022. On August 2, 1952, he was born in Tullahoma to his late parents, Elijah Waggner and Billie Aleene (Stovall) Hagewood. His parents have since passed away. His parents have passed away quite some time ago. In 1970, Jerry completed his high school education at Tullahoma and received his diploma. In the years preceding his retirement, he was employed at Bowater in Soddy Daisy as a forester in various capacities.

He was an enthusiastic outdoorsman who enjoyed activities such as hunting, fishing, and dirt track racing, in which he competed under the numbers 7 and 16 and won two championships. In addition to that, he took pleasure in exhibiting vehicles. Above all else, he cherished the time he got to spend with his family, particularly when it came to instructing his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in the sport of baseball. People will remember Jerry for his gregarious nature, amazing sense of humor, and intense enthusiasm for life. He was a good brother, father, grandfather, and in-law to his siblings. Additionally, he was a fantastic husband to his wife.

He attended the Community Church of Christ regularly throughout his life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Hagewood. His parents also passed away. His parents and his brother passed away before he was born. Jerry is survived by his wife of 23 years, Joyce Hagewood; his children, Jeremy Hagewood of Tullahoma and Blake Hagewood (Jody) Hagewood of Winchester; his grandchildren, Elijah, Emery Grace, and Cameron; his brother, Jeff (Beverly) Hagewood of Sparta; his step-son, Michael (Denise) Ward of Estill Springs; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his On Tuesday, November 29, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, guests are welcome to pay their respects at the Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. After the visitation has concluded, the funeral services will take place at noon in the Moore-Cortner Chapel, with Brother Larry Sanders serving as the officiant. After the conclusion of the service, the burial will take place in Maplewood Cemetery.
