Joan Grace Obituary, Joan Grace Has Passed Away Unexpectedly

Joan Grace Obituary, Death – On November 24, Thanksgiving Day, Joan V. Grace passed away at the Oosterman’s Rest Home in Melrose. beloved daughter of William and Catherine (Shine) Grace, who passed away 90 years ago. Ten close-knit children, all of whom were born in Boston and raised in Roxbury, made up Joan’s family. Evidently, there was always a playmate close by! Joan went to Roxbury Memorial High School and received her education there. Joan started working for New England Telephone in Boston after receiving her high school diploma. She spent more than 40 years there before retiring at age 65.

All of the siblings stayed close and in touch with one another over time. Before moving to Woburn a few years ago to be with her sister Jean and her children, Joan lived on Marcella St. in Roxbury. She had lived there from the early 1970s to the early 2000s.
It was common to see Joan, who was always having a good time, at Mohegan Sun, playing bingo, and dancing the polka with the family.
Although Joan never got married, she always loved spending time with her family, nieces, and nephews, and she often grinned when people called her “Auntie Joan”!

Her generosity, kindness, and thoughtfulness were always present throughout her lifetime, always surrounded by her faith and her love, despite the fact that she could be somewhat stoic in her presence. Among the surviving members of Joan’s family who still adore and cherish her are the late Patricia DeMarino, Florence Giangrande, William, Albert, George, and Robert Grace, Joseph and Thomas Hennessy, and Anna Reardon. Joan is also survived by her beloved sister Kathleen E. Grace, who resides in Woburn. She is also survived by a large group of devoted nieces and nephews.

On Tuesday, November 29, at 10 a.m., a Funeral Mass will be held in St. Barbara’s Church, 138 Cambridge Rd., Woburn. St. Joseph’s Cemetery in West Roxbury will serve as the final resting place. Visitation will take place at the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, MA 01801, on Monday, November 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. Instead of flowers, donations may be made in Joan’s honor to the MSPCA-Angell at 350 South Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02130, Attn: Donations.
