John Podhorsky Missouri Obituary, John Podhorsky has passed away

John Podhorsky Obituary, Death –  Podhorsky, who was a resident of Worcester, Massachusetts, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family. He had 93 years under his belt. Mary Catherine Podhorsky, George’s wife, is the only person who will carry on after him. His loving children Georgianna Podhorsky (Dains), Charles Podhorsky, George Podhorsky, and Mavi Macfarlane, as well as his brother Fred Parker and sister Ann Hays, all survive him. He was blessed with the love and companionship of twelve lovely grandchildren and four enchanting great-grandchildren. Podhorsky was the first child to be born to Charles and Helen Podhorsky on February 1, 1922, in Worchester, Massachusetts.

During World War II, Podhorsky served his country with honor in the United States Navy, where he was awarded not one but two Purple Hearts for his service. After suffering his most recent wound in combat, he made his way to San Diego. After a protracted period of time spent in physical rehabilitation, San Diego became his new home. Over the course of many years, he helped transport children to the Los Angeles-based Shrine Hospital as part of his service to the Masonic Order and the Al Bahr Shrine.

He did this with the utmost humility. Following his retirement as a procurement officer for the Federal Government, he went on to lead an active life in which he helped others and spent quality time with his family. The only thing that could compare to his passion for golf was his love for the game of baseball. He took pleasure in his companions and the craft of telling stories. Podhorsky will be remembered as a devoted family man, an honest friend, and a loyal and selfless servant to the very highest degree. Not only was he a hero on the battlefield, but he was also a hero in the way we lived our lives every day. Make sure to get in touch with the family for more information on the services.
