- by Alex Danvers
Juanita Salerno Obituary, Death – We are thinking of and praying for the Salerno family during this difficult time as they mourn the loss of Juanita Salerno. On Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at the age of 61, Juanita Ann Salerno passed away in the comfort of her own home in Lockport, surrounded by her devoted family. She was born on February 25, 1961, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Orlando Mares and Joan Mares (nee Miles), both of whom have since passed away. Juanita spent her childhood in Romeoville, Illinois, and graduated from Romeoville High School, where she was a member of both the school band and the Romeoville Parade Committee.
In addition to being a member of the Showman’s League of America and a number of other organizations, Juanita was also the successful co-owner and operator of both All Around Amusement and Rob’s All Around General Service. Juanita had a kind and gentle spirit, and she was able to work alongside her husband in the family business before going home to tend to her family as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Juanita was an asset to the family. She was an adventurous woman who also liked to curl up with a good book and experiment with ceramics in her spare time.
Juanita had a kind demeanor, a strong work ethic, and a generous heart, in addition to the fellowship she provided through her bright smile, humorous spirit, and warm hospitality. Juanita possessed all of these qualities. Throughout her adult life, she was generous to a number of charitable organizations and established a scholarship program for children who had special requirements.
First and foremost, she cherished the time that she got to spend with her family. The bravery, sturdiness, beauty, and grace that Juanita possessed will be fondly remembered. Juanita is survived by her husband of 42 years, Robert Lee Salerno; her son, Robert Lee Salerno, II (and his wife Patricia); her daughter, Amanda Salerno (and her husband Jeremy Wilcher); ten grandchildren, Danielle Sahara, Grace Helen, Jacob Derek, Savannah Michelle, Chloe Marie, Kayden Anthony, Jackson Ray, Kaylee Ann, Caitlyn Jane, and Sophia Nicole; and three brothers and sisters, Roland Mares, James (and his wife Laura) Many of the deceased individual’s nieces, nephews, and cousins managed to pull through the ordeal.
Donations made in her honor to the ALS Foundation in lieu of flowers will be gratefully accepted and acknowledged.
