Julia Vercher Obituary, Death – Julia Ann Vercher passed away in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by her loved ones. On March 6, 1939, Julia was born in the town of Campti, Louisiana. She attended Montgomery High School and received her diploma in 1957. At Montgomery High School, she became acquainted with Bernell Vercher, and the couple got married the following year in 1957. Her father, the late Albert Jackson Smith, and her mother, Mary Julia Smith, as well as her siblings Jackson “Jackie” Henry Smith, Charles Richard Smith, and Marjorie Virginia Looney, all passed away before she did. She is the only survivor of her immediate family.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, F. Bernell Vercher, her children, William Vercher and Rebecca Beadle (Danny), her sister, Linda Sue Fredieu (Robert), her granddaughters, Kathryn Vercher, Heather Bourg (Joey), and Kimberly McDonald, and her great-granddaughter, Alexis Frost. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Sue Fredieu. She had a very close relationship with one of her great-nieces, Laila Fredieu, in addition to her many nieces and nephews, all of whom she adored. Additionally, she shared a unique bond with Jody Ethridge, whom she treated in many ways as if she were her own daughter. Stone Pigman Law Firm was home to Julia for the majority of her 35-year career, during which she served as the Records Department Manager.
The transition of the company from its previous system of 3 x 5 index cards to its first records software program was made possible in large part by Julia’s efforts. Julia cherished her time spent at the company and had a great time there hanging out with her friends and co-workers. In July of 2020, she will officially retire. She was quick-witted, bright, loving, and a bit of a trickster in addition to being someone who cherished life. During her lifetime, in addition to looking for her own family, Julia spent her time, money, and prayed for the well-being of a great number of other people. For four decades, she was an active participant at Parkview Baptist Church.
On the Saturday, December 3, 2022, a Memorial Service honoring her life will be place at 6301 Camphor St., Metairie, Louisiana 70003, with a Visitation beginning at 11:00 am and continuing up until the time of the Memorial Service, which will begin at 1:00 pm. In lieu of sending flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Julia’s name to the charity of your choice or to Parkview Baptist Church.
