Megan Peterson Obituary, Death – Megan M. Peterson, 38, of Franklin, died unexpectedly from an unanticipated illness on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at 5:26 a.m., at UPMC Hamot. She was born on April 12, 1984, in Franklin, the daughter of Roger Peterson and Bonnie Morris Peterson. Megan graduated from Thiel College with a Bachelor of Arts in art and a Bachelor of Psychology. After graduating from Franklin High School in 2002, she attended Thiel College. While at Thiel, she was a member of the track and field team and competed at the national level in throwing events.

Megan went on to become a certified dog trainer after finishing her education. She went through the training process for her dog to become a service dog, which came in handy every day. She was a talented painter who enjoyed making Christmas ornaments, painting on canvas, and designing backdrops for the church dinner theater, which she helped direct. Megan was a regular attendee at the Atlantic Avenue United Brethren Church when she was a member.

Alverta Crum Morris, her maternal grandmother, and two brothers, Jason Peterson and wife Shanna of Franklin and Matthew Peterson and wife Kimberly of Grove City, survive her, as do four nieces, Isabella Peterson, Lillian Peterson, Quinn Peterson, and Avery Peterson, whom she adored. Matthew Peterson, her paternal grandfather, is also alive. Mason and Mivick, her beloved canine companions, as well as Takeal and Taurri, her feline companions, are still with her. Sam Morris and Herman and Margaret Peterson, her maternal grandparents, died before she was born. Joan Hasley, her aunt, died before she was born.

Family and friends are invited to a gathering at Atlantic Avenue United Brethren Church, located at 160 Atlantic Ave. in Franklin, on Saturday, December 10, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Reverend Brad Riddle will preside over a Memorial Service in the church at twelve o’clock in the afternoon. The arrangements have been entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park Street in Franklin. In lieu of flowers, the Peterson family asks that monetary donations be made to the funeral home via their website to help with funeral expenses.
