Mindy Schofield Obituary, Death –  Mindy was born on July 7, 1971 in Keokuk IA, to Barb Ferguson and Delbert Gilbert. Mindy grew raised in Keokuk and graduated from Keokuk High School with the class of 1989. Mindy married Jeffrey Schofield April 15, 2000. Mindy was a warm and loving spirit who would do everything for the people that she loved. She adored working and was working at Henniges Automotive when she became ill. After taking leave she spent her time doing activities that she enjoyed for as long as she could.

Mindy enjoyed gardening until she couldn’t anymore. She calmed down and actually gained a talent for creating. She was continually crafting stuff for her children and grandchildren. Mindy adored her grandchildren. Mindy is survived by her four children, but anyone who knew her knows she was “mom” to many more. She took in any kid who needed a hand. Her big heart was on display.

Mindy is survived by her husband Jeff and her four children, Blake Gilbert of Carthage, IL, Ashley (Travis) Bergheger of Carthage, IL, Drake Schofield of Fairfield, IA, Devin (Whitney) Schofield of Donnellson, IA. She is also survived by her parents, Barb (Larry) Ferguson of Keokuk, IA and Delbert (Kelley) Gilbert of Keokuk, IA, her sister, Michelle Mikaelson of Shallotte, NC, six grandchildren, Akadian, Akillian, Xander, Janice, Ezra, Tristan, a niece, Mariah, two nephews.

Tristan and Kyle and several other nieces and nephews, five step-sisters, Kathy (Gale) Howell of Kahoka, MO, Lucy (Mike) Benedict of Fairfield, IA, Lisa (Jesse) Donaldson of Ft. Madison, IA, Mary (Keith) Skinner of Keokuk and Marcia Lott of Keokuk and one sister-in-law, Crista (Jonathan) Dulguime.

James Gilbert, Kathryn (Howard) Jarvis, John and Fern Korschgen, and Susan and Wayne Hobbs were Mindy’s grandparents. A gathering of memory will be place Friday from 4 – 6 p.m. at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with the family meeting with friends at that time. Vigen Memorial Home accepts memorials for funeral costs.
