Otilia Montez Obituary, Death – Otilia Maria “Tillie” Montez, 86, died at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Living in Hoopeston on November 20, 2022, at 12:30 p.m. She lived in the Illinois town of Hoopeston. On March 7, 1936, in McAllen, Texas, Agustin and Consuelo gave birth to her. Consuelo and Agustin are her parents’ names (Morales). Antonio Montez Sr. and Obregon Sr. married in McAllen, Texas on March 18, 1959. His death occurred before hers.

Her two daughters, Norma (Ryan) Cade of Hoopeston, Illinois, and Angelica (Gary Watson) Montez Watson of Hoopeston, Illinois, survive her, as do her four sons, Antonio Montez Jr, Armando Montez, Jesus Montez, and Reynaldo (Lori) Montez; and her ten grandchildren, including Olivia. Her parents died before she was born, as did her infant daughter Norma, her three sisters Carmen, Oralia, and Olivia Obregon, and her three brothers Florentino, Agustino, and Francisco Obregon.

Carmen Obregon, Oralia Obregon, and Olivia Moreno were all left behind, as was her infant son and husband, Antonio Montez. Tillie taught at the Hoopeston Migrant Head Start program. She also worked in a number of factories throughout her career, including Stokely’s, Howard Industries, and Schumacher Electric. She belonged to the parish of Hoopeston St. Anthony Catholic Church. Tillie enjoyed bingo, fishing, and spending time with her family in addition to music and other hobbies.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the Anderson Funeral Home, located at 427 E. Main Street in Hoopeston, Illinois, on Monday, November 28, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The funeral liturgy will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 423 S. 3rd Street in Hoopeston, Illinois, on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. The ceremony will be presided over by Father Ignatius Mulenda. The burial will take place at Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston following the funeral. St. Anthony Catholic Church, 423 S. 3rd Street, Hoopeston, Illinois 60942, will accept Mr. Anthony’s honor.
