Phil Timoney Obituary, Former Chairman of Irish Tug Of War Association Is Dead
- by Alex Danvers
Phil Timoney Obituary, Death – We are in a condition of profound melancholy as a result of hearing of Phil Timoney’s decision to leave the company. It was clear to see how much he loved competing in the sport of tug of war and how much it meant to him because he had previously served as chairman of the Irish Tug of War Association. During this trying time, my deepest condolences go out to each and every one of his family.
He went away peacefully at Galway University Hospital, surrounded by his family who were providing him all the tender care that he needed. It was already too late for his brothers Edward, Patrick, and William when he passed away. His son Philip, as well as his wife Margaret, daughters Maggie (Brendan), Irene (Shane), and Barbara (Kevin), will never forget him. Neither will his grandchildren (Samantha).
His great-grandchildren Kayla and Darragh, as well as his grandchildren Conor and Aodhán, Saoirse, Niamh and Fionnbharr, Luke and Chloe (mother Sonya), and Philip, had a great deal of affection for him. Philip was also one of his great-grandchildren. His grandsons Conor and Aodhán loved dad an incredible amount as well (Mum Leanne). His grief will be deeply felt by his brothers John and Charles, as well as by his sisters Ann, Margaret, Rita, Breege, Ursula, and Kay, as well as by his brothers and sisters in law, as well as by his nieces, nephews, and the rest of the extended Timoney Family.
Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m., and continuing Thursday from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m., the individual will be resting at the family residence. St. Brigid’s Church in Ballintra will be the location for the funeral liturgy that will be held on Friday morning at 11 a.m. for Philip. After the funeral liturgy is over, his mortal remains will be laid to rest in the cemetery that is immediately adjacent to the church.
