Richard Shepherd Obituary, Death – At the age of 76, he passed away on November 14th, 2022 at Grand River Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Born in the Canadian city of Montreal to parents named George and Claudia Shepherd. Dedicated and cherished husband of Dianne. Father of Erin Shepherd-Prewo, who is married to Chris Prewo, and Ryan Shepherd, who he adores (Nikki Shepherd, wife). Dedicated and beloved grandfather of Avery, Hudson, Blake, and Jones. Respected sibling of Nancy Louman and David Shepherd Copper, his dog, considered him to be his best friend. We will always remember Rick as a kind and caring individual. He enjoyed fishing and golfing to a passionate level.
In the city of Naples, Florida, Rick was a member of both the Deer Ridge Golf Club and the Eagle Creek Golf Club. In 1975, he received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Waterloo in the field of Civil Engineering. After graduating from college, he found employment at Steed & Evans. He served with the Canadian International Development Agency in Malawi, Africa, from 1976 until 1979. In 1979, he became a member of Conestoga-Rovers & Associates and then an owner of the company. After that, he had a career at GHD that lasted until his retirement. Rick and Dianne tied the knot in 1968 in Kingston, Ontario, and have been together for the entirety of their 54-year marriage.
Rick was an avid traveler who completed his bucket list by setting foot on all seven continents during his lifetime. He enjoyed the finest foods and beverages in life. Rick had a soft spot in his heart for all kinds of creatures, including the pets that belonged to his family. A memorial service honoring Rick’s life will be conducted on Sunday, December 4 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Deer Ridge Golf Club, which is located at 200 Deer Ridge Drive in Kitchener. Cremation has already taken place. Henry Walser Funeral Home, located at 519-749-8467, is in charge of the arrangements at this time. The family would be grateful for donations made in memory of their loved one to the KdsAbility Foundation or the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society in lieu of traditional flowers (cards available at the funeral home).
