Riddick Hart Obituary, Death – High school student and his parents were killed in a head-on collision east of Peterborough on Tuesday, while his sister was hospitalized. An SUV and a pickup truck crashed along Drummond Line at about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, OPP identified the victims. The crash killed 18-year-old Riddick Hart, 46-year-old Jonathan MacDonnell, and 52-year-old Stephanie Hart, the OPP said Wednesday. All in the SUV. OPP said 42-year-old Jason Schmidt of Hastings also died. He drove a pickup.

The OPP says a young female SUV passenger suffered life-threatening injuries.
Rita Russo, director of education for Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board, stated the family attended TAS. She stated one of the parents who died was a high school employee and the injured child was a student. “We are shocked and saddened by this difficult news and the many profound and permanent impacts this tragic event has for so many in our community,” Russo said.

“Family, friends and the TAS community have our condolences. We’re also thinking about a family member, our student, who’s in the hospital.” One vehicle headed east Tuesday night, while the other headed west. Still investigating the crash reason. She said the school board is providing mental health clinicians to high schools and other crash-affected schools.
Jess Vandenberg, a choreographer, and performer said parents would do anything to support their children’s talent.

Vandenberg trained Riddick and his sister at the now-defunct Peterborough Performing Arts Centre. She’s known the MacHarts for 10 years. She said from Morrisburg, Ontario, “I mean they were a really, really close family,” “Jon and Steph would do anything for those kids,” said Vandenberg. “They traveled Ontario. They’re in America. They’ve competed in dance, sung, and acted. They would do whatever it took to achieve their goals.” She called the deaths a “tragedy” “It’s off. I’m shocked “said. “I’m angry. Whatever happened, it’s not fair.”

Four family members appeared in High School Musical at Keswick’s Stephen Leacock Theatre on Sunday. Queensville Players perform. Melody Thomas, a Peterborough music teacher and studio owner, said she gives Riddick singing lessons. Riddick was charismatic, energetic, passionate, and loving.
