Samuel Cooke Obituary, Death – Samuel G. Cooke, who was born on February 17, 1949, passed away on September 24 surrounded by his family, loyal Maltese Ellie, and his wife Cheri. Samuel G. Cooke was born on February 17, 1949. Sam had a successful career in banking before to taking the position of Director of Administration at Westminster Presbyterian Church, which is located in the central business district of Minneapolis. He served in this capacity for a total of 25 years, during which time three senior pastors were in charge of the church. He served as a team facilitator for important ministry and campus projects that told a story about Westminster’s position in the community. He counted himself extremely fortunate to have made so many coworkers and friends throughout his time of service there.
His private interests in philosophy and theology, which he pursued as a hobby in addition to his public occupations, were his first and foremost passions. He was a man of religion who believed that faith could coexist with science and rigorous thinking, and he was well-read in both subjects. He believed that faith was compatible with science. In addition to this, he was looking for modern metaphors with old meanings that corresponded to them. He engaged in regular physical activity and, along with Cheri, was the proud owner of multiple generations of Maltese puppies and Birman cats. He was a fitness enthusiast. Ralph and Celesta Cooke, as well as Sam’s siblings Joy Bosch (Harvey) and Jon Cooke, all away before Sam. Sam was the youngest of their four children (Pam). He is survived by the woman who was the love of his life, Dr. Cheryl L. Cooke, as well as by his siblings Marietta Heuberger (Michael), Phil Cooke (Karen), Deborah Rambo (Lyndall), Lois Fuchs (Bud), and Mark Cooke (Rebecca), as well as by his brother-in-law, Dr. Tim Swanson (Barb).
The hospitalizations of Sam have left his family appreciative of the numerous people who have provided care for him. They are thankful for the ministry that Reverend Dr. Timothy Hart-Andersen has been leading, as well as the numerous professions of love and friendship that have come from the Westminster Community. On Friday, October 14, at 2:00 p.m., a memorial service honoring his life will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Following the service, his cremated remains will be laid to rest in the church’s columbarium. The reception will start after this.
Both livestreaming and recording of the service will take place. The family requests that attendees maintain safe COVID practices.
Instead of sending flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church or the charities of your choice in lieu of sympathy gifts.
