Sharon Dudgeon Obituary, Andrews University Mourns Sharon Dudgeon Death

Sharon Dudgeon Obituary, Death -We, at WAUS, are devastated to inform you of the untimely passing of our dear friend and long-time general manager at WAUS, Sharon Dudgeon. Unfortunately, Sharon was involved in an accident on Thursday, November 17, which caused her to sustain serious injuries, and she did not regain consciousness as a result of those injuries. It was earlier today that she passed away.

Earlier on in this year, she was honored for her three decades of service at Andrews University and with WAUS-FM, which is the classical music radio station on campus. Our university community and the surrounding area in southwest Michigan, which is where Andrews University is located, have been profoundly and indelibly influenced by Sharon as a result of her work here. Her contributions to Andrews over the years have shown a great deal of enthusiasm, skill, and a commitment to excelling in their respective fields.

In 1994, Sharon began her career at WAUS-FM, where she is currently employed in the role of general manager. Her efforts to develop the station led to an increase in listeners and financial support for the station from all over Michiana and southwest Michigan, as well as from Chicago and other cities, and from all over the world through its online web stream. She was in charge of the station’s development while she was making these efforts.

Earlier in her career, she worked at radio stations in Kansas and Kentucky. During the 1980s, she was also the music director for WAUS-FM for a period of three years. Her most recent position was as the general manager of WAUS-FM. Both Adventist World Radio and the Adventist Radio Network benefited from Sharon’s involvement and contributions. She also remained active in the community where she lived, serving on the board of the Southwest Michigan Symphony and the Berrien Springs/Eau Claire Rotary Club, the latter of which she had formerly led as the club’s local president.

She was born and raised in Southwest Michigan. Her love of music led her to participate in a number of singing groups on campus, such as the University Chorale and the University Singers. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in music education from Atlantic Union College in South Lancaster, Massachusetts, in 1979. She was born in Oswego, New York. Sharon attended Andrews University for her Master of Music degree and graduated in 1986.
