- by Alex Danvers
Steve Tremblay Obituary, Death – On September 27th, Stephen Paul Tremblay, 27, passed away at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston after complications due to Covid-19 pneumonia. His mother, Marie (Bolduc) Tremblay, of Sturbridge, his sister, Kelsie Tremblay and her partner, Tim Santilli, of Boston, his Godmother, Catherine Halleran, of New York, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins all survive him.
Son of the late Paul R. Tremblay (who passed away on November 29, 2017), Stephen was born on April 26, 1994, in Southbridge. Stephen went to Southbridge High and was an active participant in the Center of Hope throughout his high school years.
Steve’s rare diagnosis (Bardet-Biedl Syndrome) forced him to persevere through many challenging situations, and as a result, he developed into a caring young man. Steve, a supporter of the Jimmy Fund, was always on the lookout for ways to give back to the community.
He was a self-proclaimed NASCAR fanatic, but he also enjoyed WWE wrestling and baseball (especially the Red Sox). Attending the race at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Louden with his family was a yearly tradition for him, and he was thankful for the opportunity to travel to the Charlotte race with his family this year. There he met his favorite sportscaster and had the time of his life.
The Tremblay brothers, Stephen and Paul, were inseparable; they frequently traveled together to add to their respective antique and diecast vehicle collections. He and Kelsie found solace in listening to and dancing to music, especially AC/DC and other oldies, after their father’s death. She was always there to cheer him on and put a smile on Steve’s face when he needed it most.
Even as a child, Stephen understood what a blessing it was to have Marie as his mother. Marie, being a nurse, quickly became known as a “Steve expert” among Steve’s medical staff at Boston Children’s Hospital. Steve also appreciated his many nurses and caregivers throughout the course of his life, particularly Terrilee Peipel and Cole Carron, who he came to think of as a mother and sister. Thanks to everyone’s love and attention, he was able to enjoy a full and rich 27 years of life.
His warm spirit and witty humor could brighten any atmosphere. Stephen touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with, and he will be missed dearly. Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA 01550, will be open from 4-7PM on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, for visitors. A graveside service and memorial will be arranged for him at a later time.
