Tom Migonis Obituary, Death – On the 19th of November in 2022, Mr. Tom Migonis, who was 80 years old, unexpectedly passed away at his house with his wife Sandi at his side. Thomas B. Migonis was the first child to be born to his parents, George B. and Josephine Rouden Migonis. He was born in Chicago on April 18, 1942. He had two brothers, thus he spent his boyhood between their homes. Following his graduation from high school, Tom enlisted in the United States Army and served his country.
In the course of his service, he was stationed in Korea, Germany, and Vietnam for various tours of duty that together covered more than 20 years. Tom Migonis was his name at the time of his discharge from the military with honors, and he held the rank of first sergeant. Tom and Sandi tied the knot in Booneville, Kentucky, on April 21st, 1997. They have spent the last 25 years together as a couple. Tom was a guy of deep faith and was extremely involved in the ministry at the Gospel Lighthouse Church. He was notably committed to serving as a mentor for the Celebrate Recovery program. Tom, who had a true passion for helping others, dedicated his life to his role as District Commander of the Veterans of Foreign War.
Both the Leroy Shelton American Legion Post # 36 and the Fulton County Veteran’s Honor Guard counted him as a member at one point in time. He had previously served as post commander. Cutting up some wood was the best way to unwind while I was at home by the fire. Tom could be spotted on his tractor during the spring months performing custom work for his friends and neighbors, preparing their garden plots for planting. Tom, a loyal citizen of the United States his whole life, always made sure to keep a vigilant eye on our flags whenever he was in the county. Keeping a sharp eye out for their unblemished presentation. If such was not the case, he courteously suggested that he might be able to assist them in the correct disposal of our national symbol.
An passionate gardener, Tom planted a truck patch garden. In some years, there were more than 50 tomato plants, and there was always an abundance of cabbage, green beans, and a variety of peppers. In other years, there were even more tomato plants than that. He loved it when his grandchildren came to visit. The grandchildren of Jeffrey Jr. and his companion Bri, Alicia and her husband Sean, and Amanda and her spouse Kevin all expressed how much they enjoyed hearing stories of their Grandpa Tom’s patriotism from earlier years. They went on nature walks with him, exploring the back woods and looking for wildlife along the way.
He gave several tours of his beloved garden and made sure they got a taste of the magnificent harvest after each excursion. To be cherished and kept. Those who remain in Tom’s memory include his wife, Sandi; their four children, Christine Calvert of Rochester, Toni Walker of Galveston, Kimmy Gard of Macy, and Jeff Ferrell Sr. and his wife Ellen of Rochester; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and his canine companion Millie the English Mastiff.
