In 1993, he won a seat on the Board of Trustees for the Village of Mokena, and from then until his retirement in 2018, he was re-elected for a total of five consecutive terms. Mokena was successful regardless of the circumstances.
Mazzorana was also involved in a wide variety of other organizations, including the Mokena Area Historical Society, the Mokena Chamber of Commerce, and many others. John was the voice of the Annual 4th of July parade held in Mokena for a good portion of his life.
