Wade Sturch Obituary, Death – It’s with deep regret that we wish to tell members of QPFC of the demise of a crucial part of our club family and community, Wade Sturch.
Wade died abruptly, on Sunday 13th of November. At the request of Allannah, we’ve delayed this devastating news to offer privacy for the family during this difficult time of mourning.
Wade traveled down to Queens Park JFC in 2005, with his 6 year old son Rhys, to play Auskick. Rhys is now 23 years old, thus Wade has been active at all levels of QPFC for the last 17 years; this includes Auskick Coordinator, Vice President, Committee Member, Assistant Coach and most significantly Coach of Jarrod’s squad, for over 10 years.
Allannah was constantly there completing numerous and diverse club tasks – always supporting her family and her great man. Wade was awarded club Life Membership of QPJFC in honor of his loyal service — he was a real Bulldog for life. As an inaugural member, Wade played over 100 games for the Queens Park Senior Club, which includes playing in the first ever QPFC game and was part of the first premiership in 2013, with Pops as coach. It was bittersweet that Wade was able to memorialize and attend the 10 year reunion this year, and even played on the day, which was the last time he dressed the red, white and blue.
Wade was personality-plus, sociable, everyone’s mate and a widely loved guy. He had a large heart, he was boisterous, hilarious and was the type of player who the opposition players, and officials often got to know. He most commonly played in our Reserve’s side as our No.1 ruckman, and had no trouble claiming the ‘old-man’ card so he didn’t have to train. Wade’s proudest football memories over the last several years was getting the opportunity to play a couple of QP games with his son Jarrod (who is a far better ruckman), with Rhys at the dug-out, Benny running boundary and Allannah and Emily cheering from the sidelines. Cherished recollections. After spent his life rubbishing the umpires, in recent years Wade became a dedicated umpire at both Integrated and Junior levels and he continued to keep active with his sons’ footy.
He also always managed to come to Emily’s netball games too – family was paramount to Wade. All QPFC players, committee members, family and friends wish to pass on our thoughts, our prayers and our love to Allannah and Wade’s beloved children; Rhys, Jarrod, Ben, and Emily; you are not alone in your grief and we are here for you. The loss of Wade has devastated our collective hearts and will leave a hole that will never be filled – Remembering with you Allannah, Rhys, Jarrod , Ben and Emily, the life of your lovely husband, father and our friend and brother.
Wade’s funeral will be on Tuesday 6th December: the funeral procession for Wade will arrive at Fremantle Cemetery, Carrington Street, Palmyra at 10am.
Please meet at the Carrington Pavilion by 9.45am on Tuesday 6th December, to pay respect to Wade. Words cannot sufficiently explain our sentiments of sadness. Wade Sturch – So sincerely loved, so sadly missed. Our love to all at this terrible time.
