Burnett, who was 92 years old and lived in Williston, Vermont, as well as Albany, New York, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2022, a few weeks after he had been hospitalized for a brief illness.

Dr. William S. Burnett had a long and productive life, in spite of the fact that the events of his childhood led him on a path that was extremely different from anything he could have predicted at any point in his life. Bill was born in Burlington, Vermont; however, his family eventually moved to Liverpool, in the United Kingdom, so that Bill’s father could start an osteopathy practice there. Bill was born in Burlington, Vermont. Additionally joining them in Liverpool was Bill’s sister.

He had a wonderful upbringing in Liverpool, where he and his family resided in a cheerful flat that was situated above the medical office that belonged to his father. His passion of study and his ambition to learn more were cultivated there, both at home and at the Merchant Taylors’ Boys’ School.

It was there that his love of learning was encouraged. In 1940, as Germany was making further advances into England, he took his mother and sister and boarded a ship to return to the United States, leaving his father behind. This occurred at a time when Germany was making further advances into France as well.

There was a gap of less than thirty-six hours between the time when the decision to leave was taken and the time when the actual departure occurred. Between the years 1940 and 1946, he established his primary residence in West Dennis, Massachusetts; nonetheless, he never lost sight of his long-term objective of relocating back to England.
