Wyndham Jones Obituary, Wyndham Jones Has Passed Away

Wyndham Jones Obituary, Death -Wyndham Conover Jones, Jr., also known as “Brud” Jones, of Titusville, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2016, at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, Pa. Brud had spent his entire life in Titusville. He was born on May 6, 1925, to the late Wyndham C. Jones, Sr., and Hattie Eastwood Jones. He married Anna Maxine Nelson in Titusville on September 9, 1953. Maxine died on October 3, 2009. In 1943, Brud graduated from Titusville High School. He was a World War II veteran who joined the United States Navy on July 12, 1943. In the Asiatic Pacific, he was a member of the American Campaign for Philippine Liberation. He received a victory medal. He was honorably discharged as a Motor Machinist’s Mate Second Class on March 13, 1946, in Sampson, New York.

He studied automotive mechanics at Kettering School-General Motors Institute. He retired from Jones Brothers, Inc. in 1990 as Vice President and Service Manager. Brud had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church his entire life. He was a 32nd-degree member of the Titusville Blue Lodge F & AM, a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge 264, a member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW, a member of the S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A., and sang bass in the Conewango Clippers Barbershop Chorus, several quartets, and the church choir. He loved to play golf.

He was predeceased by two brothers and four sisters-in-law, David and Joanne Jones, Philip and Clara Jones, Betty Curry, and Agnes Schall, in addition to his parents and wife Maxine. He is survived by a son, Jeffrey N. Jones, and wife Joanie of Titusville, and a daughter, Jennifer J. Herring, and husband Dale “Scooter” of Erie, as well as three grandchildren, Brandon M. Herring of Pittsburgh, Christian G. Herring of Erie, and Sarah E. Jones of Titusville.

From 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, family and friends will be received at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 N. Washington St., Titusville. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home, with Tom Newcombe, Adult Ministry Leader at the First Presbyterian Church, officiating.
